Dr.
James Courey is a prosthodontist. This is the highest standard of trained
restorative & cosmetic dentistry available in the world. A
prosthodontist is a Registered Specialist Dentist who has undergone at least 3
years extra training. He has been
a dentist for 22 years and is an experienced provider of advanced, high
quality, comprehensive dentistry.
Dr. Courey received his Prosthodontic Specialty Certificate from New
York City’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in
2000. He then joined Prosthodontic Associates of Central New Jersey, where he
partnered for several years. Currently, he is a Fellow in the Department of
Periodontology and Implant Dentistry at New York University College of
Dentistry and is a postgraduate resident instructor of Prosthodontics, the
advanced care of implant esthetic and reconstructive dentistry at Cornell
University/New York Hospital Queens.
Dr. Courey’s
training is unique in that it employs multi-specialty training in
Prosthodontics, Cosmetics, Implant Surgery, as well as General and Preventative
Care Dentistry. He has earned the distinction of Fellow of the Academy of
General Dentistry Association and had the privilege of studying under the top
prosthetic, cosmetic, and dental implant specialists in the United States and
around the world.
A New Jersey
native, he graduated from the highly acclaimed University of Iowa College of
Dentistry. Upon his graduation he joined the United States Navy where he
completed his General Practice Residency program at Naval Hospital Oakland,
California and served in Saudi Arabia during the first Gulf War. In addition to
his wartime service, Dr. Courey traveled to Senegal, Africa in on a
humanitarian mission to provide desperately needed medical and dental care to underserved
villages.
After spending
several years in active duty with the Navy, he returned home and worked in a
prestigious dental practice specializing in Aesthetic and Family Dentistry.
This peaked his interest in therapeutic and cosmetic dental reconstructions.
Although general dentists are permitted to do reconstructive procedures
(crowns, bridges, implants), Dr. Courey wanted to provide the best care to
patients; therefore, he decided to pursue an advanced specialty degree in
Prosthodontics.
In 2009 and
2005, Dr. Courey was recognized by New Jersey Monthly as one of NJ Jersey’s Top
Dentists, Prosthodontist. He is
the past-president of the Middlesex County Dental Association. Dr. Courey
retired from the US Navy in 2005 as a Commander, after 20 years of active and
reserve duty service. He has been married for 13 years. He and his wife, Lisa
have an 11-year-old son, Michael.
Dr. James Courey is an active member of
the American College of Prosthodontists, the Academy of Osseointegration,
American Dental Association, American Academy of General Dentistry, and
Middlesex County Dental Association.
He is also a Fellow in the Departments of Periodontology and Implant
Surgery at New York University College of Dentistry.

partner of Ira S. Rosen, D.M.D. of Prosthodontic Associates of Central New
Jersey, L.L.C. Dr. Courey’s current location is the former office of retired, Jeffrey
Hochstein, D.D.S.
